Odessa cried out as she was pulled off Rellah by her wild red hair, and thrown into a tree. Rellah looked up, as a woman with pale, white skin and raven hair knelt beside her. It was Nikita. She carefully pulled back the torn armour on Rellahs leg, to survey the damage of the wound. Her obsidian eyes met Rellahs in a softened gaze. Im sorry, Princess.Rellah sighed heavily, wincing as she sat up, her eyes fixed on Nikita. I want to finish something here, my guardian. I promise, I will go with you when it is over. There is a life at stake, and I cannot walk away, not now.
She knew that Nikita knew she was not lying. Nikita had a powerful gift, a gift where she could see right through into a persons soul, and read their innermost thoughts. It was the reason Nikita was hired to watch over Rellah, so that Rellah would never be able to plan an escape without Nikita knowing what she was up to. Nikitas lips parted, frowning. I know, my Lady. I will allow you this one thing, then you must return. You must not run again.
Rellah nodded, giving Nikita a relieved smile. Suddenly, Nikita was knocked backwards, and Odessa on top of her. Nikita shrieked a deamonic cry of anger, and kicked Odessa off of her, lunging forward, her fingernails growing longer, and curved, like talons, ready to strike Odessa. Odessa rolled away, leaping into a tree, hissing angrily.
Nikita regained composure, standing between Odessa and Rellah. We will give her this time, Odessa. Then she will come willingly. We have to compromise. We do not want bloodshed.
Odessa hissed, looking more hurt that she had been defeated. Fine! I will be telling Lord Caranthir of this when we return, mark my words!
Fine, I suspect you would, Nikita turned to Rellah. Go, Princess. Go back to that elven village. I will keep Odessa here until Im certain you are safe again.
Rellah stood up, wincing. Thank you, Nikita.
If Nikitas eyes could darken, they did at that moment. Princessdo not break your promise. I do not want to take you by force.
Rellah nodded, her eyes fixed on Odessa in the tree, who angrily looked between the two. I promise, I will return once Lindel is safe.
Nikita gave her a nod, and Rellah turned back toward the path she had made so far. Another cry made Rellah turn to look at them, and Odessa was once again fighting with Nikita. Nikita looked at Rellah, and yelled, Go!
Rellah did not think. She just ran. The pain in her leg she forgot as she stumbled over the fallen limbs, the wet grass. The thoughts of her vision earlier kept her going, even when the pain began to move down her leg.
A fallen branch that Rellah did not see caught her foot, sending her face first onto the forest floor. Trying to stand, Rellah cried out, the pain searing the whole length of her leg. She suddenly froze, as she realized before her were a pair of boots. Brushing her hair out of her eyes, her gaze worked their way up, and she parted her lips, a look of surprise on her face. Merayvel?
