I'll add my two cents here and there... > The trick to the surgery is to heal the bleeders. The trick to healing the bleeders is that the targeting cursor does not immediately go away when you've targeted the bleeder with a bandage...it stays briefly. Any other clicks while that cursor is up and the plague beast lord is going to die. Also, make real sure that you actually target the red blood and not the black area around it...a missed target will also kill the plague beast lord. It definately takes practice.
Whenever you cut something, immediately go ahead and have the targeting cursor for your bandages up, so you can click on the blood ASAP.
> Also...surgeons should be extremely fast or should actually work on the creatures in pairs. When working in pairs one should handle cutting and bandaging and the other should handle moving the brains into the right place. You are going to fail at this several times until you get it right.
Actually, one person CAN do it alone. It's always best to try and find 4 brains before you remove any of them. When you actualy do go to remove the brains, have your targeting cursor up FIRST, and drag the brain out of the way with your cursor. You can move items around while you have a targeting cursor, which is good since you can target the blood right away after you move the brain. You can move it anywhere, you don't have to immediately put them in the center recepticles.
> A few tips : Always start with the coffin looking things, since they will never bleed and are fastest. Next, cut open two of the rock things at once, don't wait for each one to finish opening, and then bandage any bleeders. Never click more than once when bandaging a bleeder, even though you will still have the targeting cursor. Make real sure that you hit the actual blood graphic and not the surrounding black background. Keep that going until all the rock looking things are open. Then switch to the ones with veins to cut....though unless you are real fast or have good help it seems like if you haven't found four brains by this point and you have to go to the veins you are screwed, time is about to be up. If you do have to go to the veins...cut them all at one time, don't wait between cuts. Then bandage any bleeders.
Also, NEVER cut the vein that's the same color as the organ it's attached to. It'll cause the plague beast lord to die instantly, and you'll get poisoned.
Also, if you still don't have enough brains, you can in a last-ditch effort cut open the small dark blue organ, and remove the diseased gland and replace it with a healthy gland, but be sure to bandage it back into place. If you do this, it'll open the green organ attached to it to reveal another brain. Most of the time, you won't even need to do this, which is good since you loose the healthy gland that you got from normal plague beast spawn.
> I don't believe the healing skill is required...just bandages. To pull this off you really need to have macros for both a bandage and the scissors. I finally got the hang of bandaging the bleeders, but I've still never been fast enough to get completely finished and get a core.
I managed to get over 20 cores by myself last night. With practice, anyone can attempt it alone. It's best to have someone that's quite good at it work on the surgery, while others around him/her take care of the monster spawn. Some plague beast lords spawn in some dangerous areas.
