So lemme see where I left off... oh yeah! okay, here goes another part of my character history for membership consideration. **In character** The city Calcirnore was over the mountains, and my half-sister Galmire lived there with her husband, Elven Lord Telgilen. She also had children of her own; twins Eldagil and Heruel, and a daughter Minuial. Galmire was Ainwen's daughter by Telperion. When we arrived, I was fevered and delirious. Telgilen knew who I was, as letters had been sent to all elven cities concerning me. Telperion had warned all elves of my power and that I was not to be educated. To do so would go against the law. Telgilen considered me only half-elven and impure, so he didn't want to care for me. Galmire convinced him to heal me, furious he had even considered letting me die. Grudgingly, he tended my wound until I was healed fully. My father stayed until I was well, but left, knowing I was in good hands. He and Galmire had convinced Lord Telgilen to let me stay and learn how to sustain myself in the wild. Again, I learned no elvish at all, though I begged to be taught my own language. I did learn to fight, hunt, and track. I was taught to make, wield, and maintain weapons. Another thing I learned was to build a shelter, cook in the open, make clothes, and ride a horse. I became very good at hiding, and played a form of "hide-n-seek" with Galmire's sons. At last I was ready. Several of the elves had become fond of me and gave me gifts of parting. They gave me all the tools I would need to survive on my own, including weapons. The last gift I received came as a shock. Telgilen gave me a horse. It was an old broken down stallion who had definitely seen better days. I knew Telgilen was just trying to get rid of the animal, but I was grateful. The stallion had been named Nimnar and was a dull white, with dull brown eyes. He looked tired of life, but willing to leave the city. Only he was angry he had to go with me. Telgilen informed me that I was no longer welcome in the city, and most likely would never be welcome again. I left, much more prepared this time, though sad. I had formed a strong bond with Galmire and Minuial and hated to leave them. I didn't really know where to go, so I wandered, not having a home. Nimnar was the most disgruntled horse I'd ever known. He positively hated me. Every time I'd try to ride, he'd throw me to the ground. I got sick of this and tied him to a tree, hobbling him so he couldn't pitch me off his back. I asked him why he was so awful to me. He didn't answer. I told him that if I could give him anything at all, I would try to give it. At his hesitation, I persisted. He admitted that he wanted to be young again. He was once a noble steed, now he was old and useless, soon to die. I told him that what he wanted took magic nigh unto the Gods' power. He hung his head, but I said to him that I did not know how powerful I was. All I could do was try. And I did, untying him first so he could run if things went wrong. As I attempted to use my power for the first time, I got a glimpse of how powerful I truly was. My body convulsed and the very stars seemed to harken to me. I heard the roaring of wind and a beam of blessed light fell upon us. However as I and Nimnar were engulfed in light, my vision faded. I had expended every ounce of energy and I collapsed. Nimnar told me that I was lying there for two days, unmoving. When I awoke, I was alone. I thought perhaps my steed had left me or had been driven off. I was weak to the point that I could barely move and I lay against the rocks. I heard the steps of my friend, and turned to see him. Truthfully, at first I thought it was a different horse. The stallion before me was a brilliant white coated glory. His eyes reflected of light and fire within. He whinnied and it sounded like trumpets. I did not recognize him. He dragged a blanket that I saw was my own and lay beside me to warm me. I asked him what had happened to Nimnar. The stallion neighed in laughter and told me that Nimnar was no more. His name was Admiell which he told me meant "of the night star." He told me he trusted me now and would bear me gratefully. In honest, I don't think it was me who did the changing of that horse. I think the Gods heard my wish for a friend and lent me aide to sway the feelings of someone I cared for. The blanket had fruit in it that Admiell had found. I told him he looked different. He said he had been reborn and would most likely not age any more. He said I looked different too, that I was glowing sort of, with a bluish light. I noticed that the light slowly faded as we continued. We traveled back over the mountains and headed north. We went on like this for several months. We weren't going anyplace in particular, but came upon a forest I didn't know. Fearful, I let Admiell take me under the trees. I looked behind us the whole way in. And the exact instant that I could no longer see the way out, we were surrounded by scouts and forest guards. I was afraid of them, and I guess it showed, because they spoke kindly and softly in elvish. I told them I couldn't understand them. A tall, noble looking elf came forward and welcomed me to Galaderin. Later, as we journeyed to the city, I learned the elf was Prince Tarion, only son and heir of the king. The king was an aged elf of sadness, having lost his beloved wife in childbirth long ago. He had never re-married. He was called Megilion and had reigned over this land all the days of his life. But sad as he was, he was also kind, and welcomed me to live in the city as long as I desired. Finally, I had found a home. But there was a catch. Megilion informed all the others of Telperion's decree against me and no one would speak or read elvish around me. This meant that not all elves could converse with me, for some of them didn't know common. Tarion was angry by the decree, he didn't understand why an elf must not learn elvish. But I was content, and lived there for many years. Surprisingly, I was popular. Many of the scouts and guards tried to court me, but I had no one to vouch for them. Eventually, I accepted them without approval, causing a mild ripple of rumors to spread. I was careful, always going with them to public places, with a hidden dagger, just in case. Occasionally, Admiell would go if he didn't like who I was with. I was glad he stayed with me. Tarion visited me frequently and we became good friends. At first he would read to me in common, as I could read anything. He also taught me better skills with the blade. He decided that there was no direct rule against me reading common, so he set about to teach me to read. We always went to the balcony of his room so people could see us and not hear us. I learned so quickly, he couldn't understand why I didn't all ready know how. But then again, I had never been allowed to have books in my possession before. Then he did something for which I am grateful. He disregarded the mandate against me and began teaching me to recognize Sindarin letters. As Megilion's only child, he figured he was safe from punishment. Elven came more slowly to me, it seemed so foreign. In the end, all I could manage was the letters and to say a few words. He also tried to teach me the bow, but I was awful. REALLY AWFUL. No matter what I did, and I did as he instructed, the arrows always veered left and down. Eventually, he gave up and let me practice on my own. Every time he watched he got frustrated that he had failed to teach me. I think it was more my lack of aim than his teaching methods. I found myself attracted to him, even though he was so much older than me. I didn't know if he felt the same way and tried to use my gifts to tell. But either it didn't work, or he could shield against my efforts, and I couldn't tell. So after about forty years of knowing him, I took the biggest risk I'd ever done. One day while he read to me, I leaned over like I wanted to see the page better. Instead of looking, I kissed his cheek. He was so shocked that he dropped the book and stared at me. I shrank back like a child caught at mischief. I told him how I felt, as scarlet colored my face. I told him that he was more than a friend to me, and that I didn't know how he felt, so I took a chance. Tarion blinked fiercely and leaned in to kiss me. His kisses were gentle at first. But they became more longing and passionate, and he pressed me down beneath him on the couch. I was hesitant, but didn't protest. He stopped himself before he lost all restraint. After things calmed down, we discussed options. He said that for now, we could court openly without repercussions. I agreed, and for the next several months we got to know each other better. He showed me parts of the city I hadn't been to before, like the library. On occasion, he took me hunting, as he said the only was to improve my fighting technique was to actually fight. This benefited me greatly. But the real knowledge I received came on a day that still amazes and terrifies me. Tarion and I were tracking what we thought was a small party of orcs. Turned out to be around forty-five or so, and we were ambushed.**Out of Character** I have to go, but I will post more of my character history later.
