Most of you don't know me. I have specifically stayed out of the arguement because for some reason whenever I post I seem to flame at least 80% of the people who read my posts.

I have been in Tel'ruid for almost 2 years now. I came for one reason and one reason only..to Rp. I had a friend in RL who was a member of TGC and he introduced me to the game. I fell quickly and hard for the elves and their way of doing things. It took me a year to learn that the reason rp was so good in the glade was because the elves have their way of doing things. During that first year I can only imagine some of the things that were said about my character behind closed doors and on private boards.... most of what was said was probably true.

What does this have to do with the price of tea you ask? Very simple. However many days ago, an incident occured in the arrow, which has since sparked a flame war on the board. The thing that seems the most confusing to me is the viewpoint of the players which have only recently arrived (although I know understand some of these players were around in a much different time).

I have seen several posts both public and private, stating how the glade is the last refuge of RP on LS. This is usually followed by a tirade about how we will all go to hell if we don't change our way of thinking. Does this seem a bit confused to you as well?

If we ARE the last refuge of rp on the shard then it percisely because we do things our way, and have done so for many years longer than I have been around. Why then would we possibly consider changing our way of doing things if they have worked for many years on not one online game but 2 (NWN).

Now I am going to use the example of Khellenduras simply because he not been used in any other discussion (and the fact that I can always apologize to him in ICQ :) ). Does anyone really think a liche could just stroll through an elven village?? uh let me think NO! Which is why he very rarely shows his face in the glade and when he does 99.9% of the time he is immediately confronted.

There are "evil" characters who are permitted in the Arrow. Why? Because they know their place. They know and respect that should they ever step out of line that they will be dealt with IC swiftly and summarily. This whole "shades of grey" arguement holds no water. Just because one persona belives "a job is a job is a job" dosen't mean that everyone else must agree or like it. Elves above all things respect life. How exactly would you expect them to react to person to whom life holds no more meaning than the next bag of gold?

As for this OOC/IC mix up I suggest all involve forgive and forget if as you all claim you have been around since the rebellion then you all should know that a script can go to hell in a handbasket faster then you blink. It happened everybody is REAL sorry...move on.

Finally in regards to warning, ejecting, banning... perhaps some of you aren't old enough to realize this, in which case I forgive you. But in real life, you would be damned lucky if you even got a warning, before being bounced on your head, across hard pavement from a bar here in the states, for nothing more than pestering a young lady, let allow swearing, flashing weapons, making verbal threats, etc. How do I know this? I used to be a bouncer, I speak from authority. So all you "evil" types and only "mostly evil" types, take some advice. Remember you are standing in a village of elves (which in RP terms would equal at least a 100 people who learned to use a sword 150 years before you were a twinkle in someone's eye), in a tavern run by elves, protected by no less than 3 guilds of various races. Given all these facts is it really that hard to take a warning, sit down and enjoy a glass of fey?

PLAY ON!
