A Dwarven Adventure Prologue by Jedaiah (03 Nov, 1996) I poked my head through the last of the woods and peered down through the valley to see the lights of a city illuminate the buildings and streets. It was a at least five miles away from where I stood, but the sounds and smells from the hustle and bustle made it seem five feet away. I could hear people screaming and shouting in tones of celebration and sometimes... vengence. I thought to myself that there could've been a better place to be at the moment, but shrugged off such thoughts with anticipation I had to meet the Dwarves of Clan Axepeak. It was very rare that the two races (I'm an elf ya see) would meet and attempt such daring adventure as what was planned for this night. With those thoughts in mind, I jumped off the tree branch I was using to give myself a better view, and began to walk to the town of Neverwinter. I didn't think much about being stared at or even followed, but when I heard a little boy shout to his mother, "Mommy, look it's one of those pointed ear folk!" I started to feel just a wee bit out of place. So, I pulled my hood up over my head and ducked into the darkest corner I could find and hid in the shadows until all my 'followers' dispersed amoung the crowded street. I felt comfort in this corner, forwith it held the security of not being noticed. I climbed the rafter behind me and began my search, for the meeting place, from the rooftops and walls. After ten minutes I spotted the sign to the inn 'twhere our two guilds where to meet. I slid down the corner wall of the inn and proceded to walk around to the front of the building. There where many shouts coming from inside, shouts of 'Bring m'ale, ye're slower than the slime on m'slugs back!' or 'Catch ye twidbit dwarf' or 'Who let these pointed ear side freak show inside'.... Well, I didn't get interrupted from picking my nightly flowers to be called a side freak show, so I was fixing to climb back up the roof when my captain saw me, "Jedaiah, Vedui'arQuelUndome, Mellon." He smiled and could see the concern on my face, I guess that's why he didn't let go of my hand whent he handshake was supposed to be over... he proceeded to lead me toward the doorway of the building. Well, I know I should'nt have put up expectations for the formal introduction I assumed I'd get. But, why not a hello, well met, and a short introduction of each other? Nay, not this night. The introduction, if ye can call them that, were for me to figure out. My first impression of the dwarven race was given to me from this confrontation at Mataga's inn. I didn't walk in and recieve proper introduction as I would if I was in our guild hall, but I think everyone noticed me and I noticed everyone as well.
