The Beast
by Sistariel (13 Oct, 1998) The Beast by Sistariel

Deep in the forest, it sleeps.
Awakening only when disturbed.
None know for sure what It is,
None have lived to tell the tale,
To them it is merely "The Beast"

They leave the Beast alone,
For a time.
A child, however gets to close,
Disturbing the Beast.

The townsmen go berserk.
The beast must die!
The Beast Must Die!
THE BEAST MUST DIE!!
They go out alone, in pairs,
Even in hordes to slay the Beast,
But to no avail.

One by one all of them perish,
And all that are left,
Are the women and children of the town.

Now the beast departs from its lair.
Only there isn't just one beast,
There are many.
All of them having
Black skin, silver hair, red eyes,
And bearing vicious blades.

No longer do the townspeople
Call them "The Beast"
To these women and children,
The Drow are known only,
As Death.
