Orcs and Arrows

The cloaked figured darted quickly between the thick trunks of the many trees. His hood
pulled down loosely over his dark eyes, hiding his complexion from the moon’s light. In
the distance his dark eyes glanced often to the dim fire and the smoke rising from the
clearing a few hundred yards ahead of him. “Orcs.” he whispered under his breath with a
light grumble. His boots lightly touched the ground as he walked, only causing a faint
echo around him. Reaching a hand to his face he slowly pulled back his hood revealing
finely chiseled featured as well as slightly pointed ears. Slipping his opposite hand around
him he drew forth a large single-bladed axe, pulling it back around to his side he began a
vigorous sprint to the outskirts of the encampment.

The smell of cooked meat wafted trough his nose as he approached the camp, between the
leaves he glanced the small group of sleeping orcs. Bows, axes, arrows and human bodies
littered the ground around the campfire and a look of hatred crossed his face, his dark
eyes narrowing as he slipped around the outside of the camp, his eyes searching for the
party’s leader. A smile crossed his lips as he spotted the fat orc propped up against a
fallen log, with one swift movement he spun around the tree into the light of the fire,
running furiously towards the orc. Bringing the axe over his head it was just about to
strike the leader when the arrow landed in his side...

A deep moan escaped his body as he fell to his knees, glancing to where the arrow came
from he saw a single orc, holding a dark bow. He could hear it laughing and knew the
other orcs would soon awaken from the commotion. Picking himself to his feet he
staggered back towards his house...he was wounded, but would not let Vesper become
under attack.
