A change
Rolling her healing stone in her palm, more like a worry stone, she was trying to settle the uneasiness growing just beneath the surface. It had something to do with Valandil, of that much she was certain. Closing her eyes against the grayness of the dawn, she tried sinking back into the sleep that shed woken so sharply from. Hands resting on her stomach, she tried relaxing, only to flip over to her side a few minutes later. Bah she sighed to herself, giving up and rising from bed. She wished Levald was back from his trip. Then, at least, she would have someone to take her mind off of her worry.
Maybe a walk thru the forest, away from all the noise of the city she thought.
So, dressing for a walk, packing some small bit of food, she set off southward out of town toward the woods between town and the seaside. She walked the rutted path of a road for an hour or so before cutting sharply into the woods, her trail disappearing from sight. Instead of slowing down, she seemed to pick up speed, almost running at times. Losing all sense of direction.
She screamed loud enough to startle birds from the trees when a hand on her arm jerked her to a stop. Spinning around, she let out a huge sigh of relief, nearly collapsing against the elf.
Who are you? What are you doing here? came the voice, so gruff and unfamiliar from the face she loved.
Searching his eyes, a look of concern growing in hers, she spoke. Val, dont you know me?
Knowyou? the voice still so gruff. Yer an elf in my forest! Thats what I know! Gerrrout!! Shoving her back towards the way shed come from.
Tripping over a log, she landed on her side. Looking up at the elf, tears of pain starting to slip down her cheeks, she reached out her hand just a bit Valandil Elladan, Why do you hurt me?
I.IIllisse? His face crumpled as he knelt beside her, gently lifting her. Melamin, what are you doing here? You should not be out here.
Its a free world, I will go where I please! Standing up and brushing the dirt from her dress.
The mask of a stranger fell over his face again at her words. Leave me. Taking his sword from the ground where it lay at his feet, he set the edge on his wrist, sliding it slowly down the length of the blade. Turning the flat side against the blood, he spoke words that turned her heart to ice.
Amin creosa kai
Amin natula leith
Amin creosa gurtha
(I welcome nothing
I become free
I welcome death)
When he removed the blade, there was nothing but fresh, unmarked skin, where once had been the proof of their binding.
Turning from the stricken look on Illisses face, he vanished into the woods.
