A thief caught

I sat next to the untended grave for a good long time. Can't say for sure why, other then most of the guilt washes away when I'm here. Pulled up some of the wilder weeds before I set the single white rose on the gravestone.

I hated coming here as much as I hated the reason I always did. Don't understand what provoked me to show him this. I don't need his pity.

I thought over the encounter with Luck because it was still fresh in my head. He was such a bloody idiot. Giving up everything for a dirty pallet and rats for roommates.

Nice trick that caught me though, at least it wasn't Patch. Patch'd cut me up right good if it'd been him or one of his goons. Least Luck just wanted to ask questions and find out what I know.

No honor among thieves.

No pity, either. That's what I have for them, no pity. Luck, he wasn't any different then the rest.

At least I know a way to keep him under control and out of my hair. For a thief, he wasn't very smart or very cautious.

Smart enough to catch me, though. I'll be ready for him next time.

Close attachment he's got to those "ladies" at the docks. Think I'll go keep an eye on them, maybe find out where his house is.

I know he's up to something, something big with Patch and the boys.

I wonder if he knows that I'm not the only shadow following his footsteps.
