Just for the record, posting this here was all Joy's idea! *grins*

Born on the outskirts of the sprawling woodland township of Yew, Thoron was a welcome addition to a poor yet happy couple. A mother who sometimes worked for the Abbey as a healer and a father who made a modest living tilling the soil of one of Yew's many farmsteads.

He was raised with the love and compassion typically found in small communities, the kind that would show a welcoming smile and a wave of a hand to unknown travellers and neighbours alike and induced more so by his mother's chosen profession. He was taught early on, the rudimentary ways of healing given that his father was somewhat accident prone and with his mother gone sometimes, it was left to him to look after his father.

However, at the tender age of 16, Thoron's life as he knew it was torn asunder by the marauding hordes of Keeonean, a General in the army of Minax. In an attempt to secure control of the township in the name of Minax, Keeonean unleashed wave upon wave of orcs, ettins, ogres, and the ever frightening ogre lords to quell the local population. It was during all this that Thoron's life was forever changed. Upon return from taking some vegetables to the farmer's market in Skara Brae, Thoron returned to his once happy home to find it in utter ruins and ashes. What was even more shocking to the poor boy was the state that his parents or rather the state of his parent's remains were in when he discovered them.

It was that defining moment in Thoron's life that led him down the path that he now follows, after many tears and retching at the sight of his parent's dismembered bodies. It was then that Thoron uttered a blood oath to seek revenge on those responsible for his parent's murders and took up arms in anger for the first time in his life, never having so much as thrown a fist, let alone swung a club. It was during his first battle in defence of the Abbey, the place of his mother's work that he showed an uncanny ability to wield such an ungainly weapon. An ability unknown to him throughout his young life until that particular moment.

As the fighting for Yew intensified, Thoron continued to hunt down those responsible, attacking anything and everything in a blind rage, to the point where his life and what happened to it no longer mattered to him, just as long as his blood oath was fulfilled. It was here that his recklessness during combat almost cost him dearly. As he was fighting off one wave, he was suddenly struck in the head, his only saving grace was the fact that he had chosen to put a helmet on his head that saved his life for it absorbed most of the blow from the ogre that had come up behind him and caught him unaware but in turn was quickly dispatched by a few others fighting in defence of the town. It was that blow that gave him the scar that he bears across the bridge of his nose today, a small gift left from the nose guard on his helm as it caved in from the force of the blow.

Thoron was taken to the Abbey to be treated for his wounds and to also keep him from returning, the healer's having been already told of his reckless abandon and seemingly lack of care towards his own life while fighting. Not wishing to see the son of the woman that had once worked with them end up dead, the healer's physically confined him to one of the rooms in the Abbey until he was properly healed. It was during that time that the fighting for Yew ended and Keeonean's efforts in capturing the city were thwarted. The victory was not at all welcomed at least in part by Thoron, having felt that he was robbed of his revenge. It was also during this time that he was approached by a man bearing his own scars of combat past, his one eye covered by a patch and a jagged scar left crawling down the side of his face.

It was during this brief meeting with this man that Thoron found a purpose in life and a job opportunity to boot. The man telling him that he could use a person like Thoron in his employ, that the money'd be top notch, he'd just have to learn to control his anger in combat. Thoron gladly took the man up on his offer, not having anything left to him but his name. It was then the man introduced himself as Ti Eless and with a shake of a hand, Thoron was welcomed into Eless Arms Industries. It turned out to be one of the better decisions Thoron ever made. Because of it and with Ti's connections, Thoron was able to hone his skills as an armsman and warrior as well as learning the restraint that one needs in combat.

It wasn't that long after that that the rumblings of war echoed across the lands again. Being in the arms business, Ti and his fellow mercenaries couldn't help but get caught up in it. First from simply running arms and armour to the highest bidder and finally to actual warfare itself. When the recruiting calls went out for the various factions, Ti found himself throwing his own hat into the mix. With many former members of Lord British's Loyalists in his employ, Ti found it rather difficult to choose any other faction than the True Britannians who fought for King and Country. Former members that Thoron himself was in awe of. AngusThorn, Hezekiah, Landryn Teriyak, just to name a small few. Not to mention others such as Natalya Wilwarin and Eric Windrider who were also in Ti's employ. It was here that Thoron witnessed warfare at its bloodiest.

The battles that raged in the lands now known as Felucca were some of the toughest fighting that Thoron ever encountered. Often being called upon to stay up for hours on end, gradually wearing themselves down and facing defeat after defeat during the early part of the conflict, Ti and Angus turned to the High Council of Britannia to procure support and relief efforts for the battle weary forces of the King. Meeting after meeting took place, promises of help and support were made but seldom materialized. It left Thoron in particular with a very bad taste in his mouth especially when he and his comrades in arms continued to fight and to die for King and Country.

After months of fighting and very few successful battles for the True Britannians, the seeds of despair finally sprouted in Thoron. It was during one particularly intense skirmish on the outskirts of Britain that Thoron himself was involved in, a spirited exchange between the True Britannians and the Council of Mages forces where friends fought as enemies and for the first time Thoron killed in the name of the King, someone whom he had considered a friend. A very close friend at that. It was then that something inside Thoron snapped. As the battle came to a close, Thoron wandered the killing fields aimlessly in a daze. Not hearing anything or anyone. Not even the elated cheers of his fellow warriors as they cheered at having beaten back the Council of Mages forces.

Haunted by his actions and the lack of action on the Council's part, Thoron decided to seek out a new existence elsewhere. Heeding the call for mercenaries in a faraway land, Thoron gave up everything in his possession except for the armour on his back and the mace in his hand, he headed off in search of a new life and a new beginning.

One does not forget Britannia that easily however and because of that, Thoron had a desire to return to the land of his birth and the vast forests of the town of Yew where he could find the peace and quiet in life that he felt was well deserved after so many years of travel and fighting. When he did return, he was not the same person that he was when he left. He was no longer motivated by gold or promises of untold riches. Instead, he sought to put the skills of his trade to use in a more humble manner.

It was not long after his return that he was approached by an old and dear friend that Thoron was again called upon to serve his place of birth. Not as a warrior or mercenary but rather as the Adjundant to the High Council Representative of Yew, Lady Joylah. It was a position that Thoron agreed to, albeit reluctantly but one he'd take in an effort to make sure mistakes of the past were not repeated. And if the need should ever arise where his mace and shield were needed, there'd be no doubt in his mind that once again, he would find himself knee deep in the mire of combat. After all, you can take the warrior out of the fight. You cannot take the fight out of a warrior.
