Wandering lost in the forest for, she had no idea how long, she came upon a stream. Following its path, she ate what fresh foods she found, herbs, mushrooms, whatever... Walking into the stream, she tried to catch a fish, using nothing but her bare hands. Failing miserably, cold and wet, she sat down on a rock at the edge of the stream, leaning her head back in frustration, catching sight of a patch of strawberries on the other side. Crossing the small stream, getting wet to the waist when she slipped on a moss covered rock, she finally made it up the opposite bank, plopping down carelessly in the midst of the berries, too hungry to care where she sat.
Damp and muddy, with strawberry stained lips and fingers, she began to hear the sounds of an approaching horse. Lifting her head, she saw a tall, brown haired, man leading his horse along the stream, a look he had never had before flashing thru the sparkling blueness of his eyes as he saw her. "Are you lost?" came a voice. She had to blink a moment before she realized he was speaking to her. Quickly rising to her feet, she attempted to dust off her skirts 'of course I'm not lost ' lowering her eyes to the berry patch "I'm...I'm... *sighing* Do you know where I am?" Hiding a small chuckle he replied 'standing in a patch of berries by the looks of things. Actually I was hoping you could tell me. I'm on my way to a town called Ruapenchi. I was told its about a day's ride from here.'
'Ride?' finally taking full notice of the horse behind the man. Taking a couple of steps beackwards, she stepped on a sharp rock, causing her to fall.'I...I.. d..dont ride' stammering in fear. the spell that had mader her forget things in her past had made her forget that she ever rode a horse or even liked them.
Reaching out his hand to her as he stepped closer, the smile still on his face 'apparently you dont stand very well either' pulling her to her feet, surprised to see that she was nearly as tall as he was. Hel held on to her long enough to make sure she wouldnt fall again, glancing over his shoulder at Jessup, munching his way closer to them. ' I didnt say you had to ride. It was just a term of distance.'
Blushing as red as her berry stained fingers, she continued 'I know of Rua. Its closer than that' remembering she'd been in this forest once before. 'We're in Rua Forest' A flash of a grin on her face 'I remembered!'
Curiosity returning to his face 'Remembered?' Taking a closer look at her disheveled appearance. She looked more than a bit tattered around the edges - her skirt frayed and torn, there was a hole in her shirt he was certain she wasnt aware of. He could see that her hair would be long and beautiful-if not for the brambles and knots in its still damp length. His fingers lightly brushed her cheek, pulling them quickly away when he realized she might think he was doing something untoward. 'Do you forget things often?'
The pause in her eyes spoke more than words 'I...ah...don't know'
"Well, do you know your name? Mine's Levald Smith. I'm a blacksmith' grinning a bit at the small play on his name.
'Illisse' she replied, holding out her hand in a very lady like way, pulling it away before he could take it when she caught sight of them still covered in berry juice. 'Brilthor, I'm a healer. I think. Yes. Yes I am' Grinning a bit more at the memory.
'Okay, Illisse Brilthor, can you point me in the direction of Ruapenchi?'
'Only if I can go with you' Eyeing the horse 'on foot.'
'Alright, walking it is. Jessup could use a rest anyway.'
Taking off, stepping carefully out of the strawberries, she led them downstream towards the south. She'd been along this stream before, but they had avoided the city. Trying to catch that bit of memory, she shook her head as it flew away from her. Who she had been with and why had they been around here? They stoppeed to rest on an old fallen tree a few hours walk downa well beaten road, gathering one or two odd glances. Elves weren't that common around there, especially a very bedraggled female in the company of a human. Reaching the gate of the city, Illisse began digging thru a small pack tied around her waist. More than a little relieved at finding coins buried there, mostly silver and coppers, but one or two gold pieces.
Arriving at the stables, Levald made arrangements to keep his horse there until he found a place to set up his smithy. 'There's an Inn just the next street over young lady, if ye wish to tidy yersel a bit' noted the rough stable hand, who looked as if he could use a bit of tidying himself.
Walking around the corner Illisse was almost too embarassed to open the doors to the Glimmering Inn, a very crisp, clean nearly glowing white building. Finally catching her breath, she opened the door and stepped inside. It was a cool, almost dark, room, filled with tables and booths, a long bar of aged oak ran the full length of the back wall. Heading towards it, she kept her eyes lowered away from the gaze of the patrons there. Sitting on a stool at the bar, she waited for the barkeep to come her way. As he did, she missed the look of surprise on his face.
'Im looking for a room, Do you have any available?'
A voice almost as smooth as the oak of the bar came from him 'you the healer?' when she nodded in shock, 'I'm a healer, ai' she recieved a greater shock with his next words 'Your room's already been arranged for ma'am. your belongings are already there. I'll take you up in a minute'
Numbly following him, thinking there must be some mistake, she nearly started crying when she was that indead the clothes laid out over a chair and the pack on the bed belonged to her. 'How? Why? How? she stammered. How and who, she was never to find out.
"I don't know, to be sure ma'am, I was just told you'd be here sometime this week.' Nodding his head he turned and left the room, closing the door softly behind him.
Picking up the pack, still unsure of how she knew it was hers, she made a quick search thru its contents, recognizing everything, nothing bringing any memories beyond what each item was. It held a larger herb pack, a small mithral blade with a name etched into it. 'Ai'mithe' what was her little brothers knife doing in there?........her brother? Slowly sitting down on the edge of the bed, a small brown haired elf appeared in front of her his voice, like his appearance, nothing more than a whisper on the wind. 'Seler'amin......'
