All Quiet on the Elven Front

A lull. That was the best way she could think to describe the respite between these incursions of pirates, barbarians and drow. Kiravel had found the village of Tel'Ruid nearly empty when she had returned to it from her forest travels. Despair quickly changed to remembrance that many of Tel'Mithrim were out on the hunt tonight. It seemed odd that they would do so when there was such a recurring threat at home. But then, the hunt was part of the joy of the elven warriors and so long as open war was not evident, she rationalized its continuance.

The young elf patrolled the Glade for several hours. Other than a few ogres, trolls and harpies - all of which were easily dispatched - there was no activity to report. And that was the crux of her message to Lord Thrand who was the first of the returning hunters she ran across near the Shrine.

She wondered what exactly she *could* do if a pirate or otherwise appear. Although quickly gaining in skills, she was no match in either melee or simply tracking. And then there was the poison. Her father had watched its evil work earlier during a duel between Therfalas and one of these scurvy infiltrators. He had mentioned how difficult it had been to cure the elf. This was a fluid of malicious purpose upon a pirate blade and it must have come from the drow, who delight in such atrocities.

Still, it was better to have an elf who was but a token show of attention than nothing at all. These invaders had all arrived with the concept that Tel'Ruid had been all but abandoned, and had not yet been deterred by the initial show of resistance to that idea. They would have to press the question home.
