Camris Lindar: The Sick Note

Camris Lindar: Dear Sir I write this note to inform you of my plight
Camris Lindar: And at the time of writing I am not a pretty sight
Camris Lindar: My body is all black and blue, my face a deathly gray
Camris Lindar: I write this note to tell why Paddy's not at work today
Camris Lindar: While working on the fourteenth floor, some bricks I had to clear
Camris Lindar: And to throw them down from off the top seemed quite a good idea
Camris Lindar: But the gaffer wasn't very pleased, he was an awful sod
Camris Lindar: He said I had to cart them down the ladder in me hod.
Camris Lindar: Well clearing all those bricks by hand, it seemed so very slow
Camris Lindar: So I hoisted up a barrel and secured the rope below
Camris Lindar: But in my haste to do the job, I was too blind to see
Calista: uho..
Camris Lindar: That a barrel full of building bricks is heavier than me.
Camris Lindar: So when I had untied the rope, the barrel fell like lead
Camris Lindar: And clinging tightly to the rope I started up instead
Camris Lindar: I took off like a rocket and to my dismay I found
Camris Lindar: That half way up I met the bloody barrel coming down.
Camris Lindar: Well the barrel broke my shoulder as on to the ground it sped
Camris Lindar: And when I reached the top I banged the pulley with me head
Camris Lindar: I held on tight, though numb with shock from this almighty blow
Camris Lindar: And the barrel spilled out half its load fourteen floors below
Camris Lindar: Now when those building bricks fell from the barrel to the floor
Camris Lindar: I then outweighed the barrel so I started down once more
Camris Lindar: I held on tightly to the rope as I flew to the ground
Camris Lindar: And I landed on those building bricks that were scattered all
Camris Lindar: around.
Camris Lindar: Now as I lay there on the deck I thought I'd passed the worst
Camris Lindar: But when the barrel reached the top, that's when the bottom burst
Camris Lindar: A shower of bricks came down on me, I knew I had no hope
Camris Lindar: In all of this confusion, I let go the bloody rope.
Camris Lindar: The barrel being heavier, it started down once more
Camris Lindar: And landed right on top of me as I lay on the floor
Camris Lindar: It broke three ribs and my left arm, and I can only say
Camris Lindar: That I hope you'll understand why Paddy's not at work today.

Julianna Wolfe: And go he did to battle, and in that fierce battle did he get his death stroke to heart
Julianna Wolfe: His men, having seen him spy her, did call her there to him.
Julianna Wolfe: He looked up, thinking it was sky he saw, but indeed it was HER eyes
Julianna Wolfe: as her tears fell upon his face she gave him her love and
Julianna Wolfe: their souls entwined.

Camris Lindar: "I hear that you tell fortunes, sir, would you tell me mine?" said she,
Camris Lindar: "Of course, my dear, without a doubt if you'll walk upstairs with me."
Camris Lindar: "To walk upstairs with you, kind sir, I'm sure I am afraid,"
Camris Lindar: She spoke it in such modesty as though she were a maid.
Camris Lindar: "To walk upstairs with me, my dear, you need not be afraid,
Camris Lindar: Knowing it was but the other day you with your master laid"
Camris Lindar: Then she began to curse and swear she would her master bring,
Camris Lindar: As witness for both him and her that it was no such thing.
Camris Lindar: "My pretty maid, don't swear and curse, you'll make the deed the worse,
Camris Lindar: For the gold piece that he gave to you, you've got it in your purse"

Camris Lindar: I've traveled many lands it's true
Camris Lindar: and some I can't recall,
Camris Lindar: And I think that no matter how far I go,
Camris Lindar: I'll never see them all.
Camris Lindar: I've traveled countries
Camris Lindar: so far across like fine Merideas,
Camris Lindar: And some I've traveled were drops in a pond;
Camris Lindar: I walked across in days.
Camris Lindar: And many I've met, and many I've seen,
Camris Lindar: it's one reason I became a writer.
Camris Lindar: But one I'll remember to my dying day
Camris Lindar: is Valdric the vegetarian fighter.
Camris Lindar: You've heard of Fates, monsters and gods,
Camris Lindar: and the man who would not die.
Camris Lindar: You've heard of elves and dwarves and such,
Camris Lindar: and the beholder's devastating eye.
Camris Lindar: You've heard of orcs and trolls I'm sure,
Camris Lindar: and nasties by the score.
Camris Lindar: I've covered most, I just don't think
Camris Lindar: that I can name any more.
Camris Lindar: Well dragons and treasures and maidens are great,
Camris Lindar: but now I just don't care.
Camris Lindar: For I have seen Valdric and all of these things
Camris Lindar: to him just don't compare.
Luther Weyr: OMG i feel like a newbie
Camris Lindar: Eight foot four he stood to tower over men,
Camris Lindar: You'd look at his boots, get up to his knees,
Camris Lindar: and look back down again.
Camris Lindar: He wore a helmet with horns, and a half moon ax,
Camris Lindar: that made you think, "Beware!"
Camris Lindar: And his boots and his hat and his face and his arms
Camris Lindar: were covered with three inch hair.
Camris Lindar: Then you'd get to his eyes, and notice his smile,
Camris Lindar: and think that the world just got brighter,
Camris Lindar: And his four foot girth, yes that's him,
Camris Lindar: Valdric the vegetarian fighter.
Camris Lindar: We met at a court I've traveled to some,
Camris Lindar: and thought that I'd stay at awhile,
Camris Lindar: I've relatives there, or so some might say,
Camris Lindar: at the court of squire Logan of Guille.
Camris Lindar: He had just come in, and been offered some meat,
Camris Lindar: and regretfully had to decline,
Camris Lindar: He said, "Though a rare treat, I will not eat meat,
Camris Lindar: Have you some turnips and wine?"
Camris Lindar: All talking stopped, and everyone stared,
Camris Lindar: and one of the ladies just swooned then.
Camris Lindar: Then all down the hall, the fighters stood up,
Camris Lindar: turned and dropped trou and then mooned him.
Camris Lindar: But Valdric just stood there, through the snickers and jeers,
Camris Lindar: and politely resaid his request.
Camris Lindar: Squire Logan roared, "Be quiet you all!
Camris Lindar: I'll not have you laugh at a guest!"
Camris Lindar: Then the men were abashed though they still stood and stared,
Camris Lindar: and they brought him some wine and some cheese.
Camris Lindar: While he sat next to me, I was startled to see
Camris Lindar: on his ax was engraved a small tree.
Camris Lindar: I then asked him why, and he winked his right eye,
Camris Lindar: said, "All plants are at fault,
Camris Lindar: My family died, with me still a child,
Camris Lindar: at the hands of those murderous kamphault!"
Camris Lindar: We talked for a while, of him as a child,
Camris Lindar: and quickly became fast friends.
Camris Lindar: And all the next week, we were seen round the keep,
Camris Lindar: chatting and laughing again.
Camris Lindar: And every now and then
Camris Lindar: you'd see us off on an errand or foray,
Camris Lindar: And once in the kitchen (or on our way out)
Camris Lindar: saw the fair lady Gwinneth Anorae.
Camris Lindar: She looked very worried, we asked what was wrong,
Camris Lindar: she said that the squire was to assault
Camris Lindar: Off to the border, with most of his men,
Camris Lindar: to fight off an army of kamphault.
Camris Lindar: "Kamphault!", cried Valdric as he loosened his ax,
Camris Lindar: "I'll carve them and eat them like beets!"
Camris Lindar: And then off he raced, while swinging his ax,
Camris Lindar: as fast as would move his two feets.
Camris Lindar: All the way to the battle, without stopping once,
Camris Lindar: I heard that the fighter did run.
Camris Lindar: And then when I got there, at close to days end,
Camris Lindar: I found that he was almost done.
Camris Lindar: Sore bestead was the army, until he got there,
Camris Lindar: they'd fight and then slowly retreat.
Camris Lindar: But then in rushed Valdric, and he swung his great ax,
Camris Lindar: and he mowed down the kamphault like wheat.
Camris Lindar: Aye, his half-moon cut trunks, cut branches and berries,
Camris Lindar: and he munched on the pieces the while.
Camris Lindar: But they marched in by scores, and hundreds and thousands,
Camris Lindar: to fight with his weed whacking smile.
Camris Lindar: When he had finished, he looked round for more,
Camris Lindar: and was startled to hear a great roar.
Camris Lindar: Crying, "Valdric the fighter! A warrior true!
Camris Lindar: May he live on forever more!"
Camris Lindar: Then he fell to the ground, and squire Logan looked round,
Camris Lindar: and asked me what I thought did hap.
Camris Lindar: Then I laughed right out loud, and I said to the crowd,
Camris Lindar: "I think he faints at the sight of sap."
Calista: *giggles*
Camris Lindar: And those who could hear, laughed with great cheer,
Camris Lindar: and Valdric woke up and looked round.
Camris Lindar: Then louder they cheered, as Valdric they neared,
Camris Lindar: and they carried him right into town.
Camris Lindar: That day he was piled with awards for his deeds,
Camris Lindar: the squire made him part of the court.
Camris Lindar: Now I've traveled on, and long I've been gone,
Camris Lindar: but I still know where I'll find my sort.
Camris Lindar: For when I am weary of the world and it's cares,
Camris Lindar: of the stress and tension tighter,
Camris Lindar: I can go see my friend, Who is there till the end,
Camris Lindar: Valdric the vegetarian fighter.
