> Yarra has asked if he still needs the skill called "Magic Resist" even with these other resists included in the armors/weapons? If so, (besides the logical 100) How high would he need to raise it for it to be a benefit to him?< No, you don't really need resist. But it does a few handy things. It gives you a base value in the various resistances in proportion to its level. It reduces or eliminates the effects of a Paralyze spell as well as Curse, Weaken, etc.
In addition it sometimes permits you to simply resist the spell entirely.
I like the skill and even at a value of 60 you will begin to feel the beneficial effects.
On the minus side, it is extremely hard to raise.
> Weapon choice, He is developing Fencing and thus far has been using just a daggar to eliminate things that try to eliminate him. He has several Kryss's and has had a Lance but neither of these two types resolve the contest as quickly as the standard issue Daggar. So I am wondering if there is a one handed Fencing weapon that would be better?<
If you are not yet a gm fencer, stay with the dagger. Its greater speed allows you more swings and thus a greater chance of gaining in skill.
If you are not training, you should probably choose your weapon depending upon its attributes and your foe. For example a weapon with most of its damage distributed between poison and energy will damage a dragon more than one with merely physical damage.
In PvP a dagger is great against those with healing skills because its great speed permits you to repeatedly interfere with their bandages.
> So again is there a fencing style weapon that is good for Undead types?<
You need a silver weapon or undead slayer. It does double damage against undead. If you use one though, be sure not to use it against Repond creatures (orcs, ogres and such) because it will anger them and they will do double damage against you!
> I thank you in advance for any responces and I do ask that if you would please keep my visits here between us and not let Yarra know. I'd rather not lose face with him!! *smiles*<
My pleasure. I just missed meeting Yar last night. He was around the Silver Arrow when I showed up, but I dallied for a minute to kill a troll and he had left. I did find a dead ogre just north of the Arrow which I suspected was his handiwork.
We will meet soon.
