Tyrraniel was born deep in a forest known to only few as Ndor tel Sul - the Land of the Wind. His father, Velahrn, named him after Tyr - the God of War, for his destiny was to follow in his footsteps and become a great warrior for his tribe, a champion of the Grey Elves. Nevertheless, this calling never came to pass.

Great Dwarven enemies from the eastern lands of Kraaxx, plotted against the Sulannin. Councils were formed and great war summits were held as various tribes of dwarves joined together in conspiring vengeance against Ndor tel Sul. Four distant clans would join and lay siege to their Elven foes as retribution for ages of war and hostility. The force of thousands quickly mustered and marched westward towards the great forest, blew their horns of battle in unison, surrounded the vast jungle in its entirety and began to burn the trees to the ground.

Panic raged throughout the Elven people. At first, the Sulannin did what they could to extinguish the flames to their avail, for it spread quickly throughout the forest hungrily feasting on the wood and burning all asunder. The soldiers prepared themselves for one last stand as all that they new to be was soon drawing to an end. Velahrn took his only son, then only a baby, and placed him in a small, thatched boat cleverly made of twigs, twine, and leaves and placed him in the tributary stream of the Beleg duin - Mighty River, hoping Tyrraniel would find safety. Encharged with caring for him was Nadia, an older Elven cousin.

"Let no one bring harm to Tyrraniel," Velahrn commanded. "Find a safe land where he may grow strong and free amongst the wind and trees. Never let him forget the face of his father nor that of the Ndor tel Sul. When he is older, tell him of this night and that I loved him very much!"

With one last great shove, he pushed the boat into the river and down the stream in flowed in its swift current. Finally, the Grey elves joined together and with one last strong breath; Velahrn led the Sulannin in a counterattack against their assailants.

Arrows filled the night sky and axes glistened in the firelight. The battle lasted throughout the night and the elves fought valiantly. To their avail, they were eventually overrun. They were outnumbered greatly, flanked from three sides, and were left with no retreat as the blazing forest gave them no where to run. The women and children burned alive in the woods, every Elven warrior standing on the field was slain, and every elf who stepped from the great forest in attempts to flee the onslaught was beheaded. And in one final token to their gods, the dwarves gathered up and threw all their slain enemies into the pyre.

Nadia and Tyrraniel would meet better fortune. They escaped the fate of their clan as they floated down the Beleg duin and under the cover of night and the blinding flames, they were unseen and escaped capture.

Eventually, they came to what the Grey Elves knew to be called Ndor tel Asto - the Land of the Dust, there they lived amongst the edan - humans. There, they both found peace and grew older. In time Nadia recounted to Tyrraniel the horrors of that fateful night.

Tyrraniel found it within him to honor his father by following in his footsteps as a warrior. He trained long and hard with a sword, joining in both the hunts and battles of his new homeland. He soon gained notoriety for both his cunning with a blade and wisdom in avoiding its sting, along with the wealth from offering his services for a price.

But he always longed for something more, the company of his own kind. They were both considerably older now and Nadia was betrothed to a mage named Koldun. Tyrraniel quietly packed his belongings and left without a word. He would leave the Land of the Dust to wander and search for those whom he had heard of only in tale, Tel Mithrim.
