Seleramin, the elf said falling to his knees, forgive me. I did not know it was you. The guards have been ordered to kill any TaurQuessir coming here. There have been threats against us. We are preparing for a great battle. rising to his feet, Why are you here with these strangers seleramin? Where is Illisse interrupted him Do not EVER speak that name to me. He betrayed me. Now he is gone from this world. I will not speak of him again! Pointing at Lindor she said This is Lindor Welgarthe, he is my friend. This pointing at Val, This is Valandil Elladan, he is my bonded mate. We came here to stop this battle. You must take us to your father. He is your father too Illisse, he whispered. No Halatir, he is not. I will explain it to you soon.
Getting their horses, the four rode east out of the village. It was a full day travel to reach TelEmyndil. Crossing a lush green valley, they came to a wide shallow river. Stopping near the river bank, Illisse turned to Val I want to say here for the night. I think we will be safer if we go across in the morning.
Shes right, said Halatir with the way things are now even I wont go near there after dark and its my home! Taking shelter in the trees at the edge of the clearing they set up a cold camp for the night. Halatir took first watch, Lindor quietly watched him, not completely trusting him as Illisse did. After a quiet night they rose with the dawn and prepared themselves to cross the river.
As they reached the far shore, they were greeted with shouts of joy. Illisse my daughter. I am so glad you have returned and with our new Osta too. No, Caradhras, he is notthere will be no new Guardian I have returned the Blood Moon Stone to its rightful place. The one whom I left with remains there in death. That is not why we are here though. Please, let us go somewhere that we may speak in private. said Illisse. Caradhras had looked sharply at her use of his name, now he slowly looked over her companions. Who are these strangers you have brought to our home, my daughter?
Caradhras, I am no longer your daughter said Illisse and as for strangers these are not. This is Lindor Welgarthe, and this is Valandil ElladanMy heart and my life. We are bound to each otherYou are more a stranger to me than they are. At this comment he looked at her again, narrowed his eyes and said Come with me.
Taking them up the stairs and thru several sets of doors at each end of the hallway, in what had once been Illisses home, they entered a small chamber. We may speak with ease here said Caradhras.
My lord began Valandil we have come to stop this battle between you and TelAlfirin. They were being ruled by a man that has been cursed. They cannot be blamed for the actions of Helevorn and his followers. He is disgraced amongst his own people and has left them as a traitor.
Helevorn has insulted me by his accusations. I cannot and will not allow that insult to pass me by!
Caradhras Illisse spoke you must stop this or it will destroy us all
Caradhras raised his hands No more talk you may stay here the night. I want you ALL gone on the morrow. I will have rooms readied for you.
As Caradhras raised his hands, Valandil froze. For upon his left hand was a small bird shaped mark. He had seen one just like it several weeks earlieron the hand he had cut off of Helevorn. In shock he had not heard what Caradhras had said. Nor did he see Caradhras leave. Seeing that Val had not moved to leave the room, Lindor returned to his side. Placing his hand on Vals arm, he felt Val tense and ducked just in time to avoid being hit. Hey, whats the matter with you? Its meLindor. Slowly realizing that he had almost hit his friend, Val blushed. Amin hiraetha, mellonamin I have just realized something terrible. As he explained about the mark, Illisse pales and Lindor got very quiet. Does this mark mean what I think it does asked Illisse softly. Uma melaminCaradhras and Helevorn are brothers. Illisse looked up at Val I will speak with Halatir- he may know something of this As she turned to leave the room, Val took her arm and pulled her to him amael, please be careful. You may trust Halatir, but I do not. Kissing her he let her go. Lindor, follow her please and keep her safe he whispers. Without a sound Lindor follows Illisse through the house to a room on the other side of a great courtyard. Quietly knocking a secret code that she had used since she was a small child-Halatir opened the door Seler he spoke softly it is dangerous for you to be here, I have heard what happened. Follow me Lindor watched them blend into the gardens. Being able to hide himself like that, he had no trouble following them. They had walked for nearly fifteen minutes before Halatir stopped Seler he said hugging her I am worried for you and your friends. We must find a way to get you all away from here Halatir, there are things I must ask you and things that you need to know. began Illisse. She led him to a bench where they talked for a long time. From his hiding place, as he watched them, Lindor began to notice something that shocked him as much as Val was shocked earlier. He had begun to notice similarities about them---the shape of their eyes, the same jaw shape, the same way they held their heads and the same way they used their hands to express themselves. Halatir and Illisse were true brother and sister-but who are their real parents? The father and mother, that had died just after Illisse was born? Or the king and his wife or was it someone else all together?
So caught up in this revelation, he almost missed the small movement at the edge of his vision. Moving his head carefully he watched the spot again. It was a young elf. Lindor began silently moving towards Illisse. The young elf was doing the same thing. Just before the elf reached her, Halatir swiftly snatched him up and began to laugh Aimithe, you will need to be quieter than that if you want to sneak up on me. Seeing Lindor stand up, you should learn from our sisters friend Lindor. See how silently he moves? Even I did not know he had followed us. He is the perfect guardian for Illisse. He smiled at Lindor Diola lle, mellonamin, if I may call you so, for I see that you care for her as much as Valandil does. Lindor glanced at Illisse then down at the ground. Looking back at Halatir he spoke She is much like a daughter to me. She reminds me of my wife. I will protect her from harm as long as I am able to.
Halatir looks at Lindor, this is my adopted brother- currently his name is aimithe, because his is a quiet as one.*smiling* Looking at Illisse his father was the last guardian. He is like you seler, orphaned once but no longer alone. I had hoped when I saw you that you would get to know him. Now I fear for us all. They chose to return together. Illisse and Halatir holding aimithes hands between them. Halatir took his young brother with him while Illisse and Lindor returned to the room they had left Val in. He was still there, studying a piece of parchment. Looking up as they came in, he smiled. Illisse went to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Softly she spoke to him Diola lle, melamin for sending Lindor to watch over me, but I was safe with Halatir. Lle creoso, but I want to keep you alive melamin. I do not trust anyone here. I found this parchment, Illisse. This account tells of aI do not understand exactly what they meana completed heart that will reunite the two people. It was written by a great seer of the age, over roughly in human time 10,000 years ago.
Sitting down rather abruptly, Illisse looked towards Valandil, muttering to herself How can it be?, How can she have known? Val, do you remember what I said to you the day we met? She reached out to touch his hair a piece of my heart.and the promise I made to you then also? Two halves of the whole? Pausing as if to try to remember, (as if it was ever far from thought) then becoming very still. This is about us? Looking at it closer Valandil finds some very small markings on the back of it. Reading them he drops the parchment and reaches for Illisse. Turning to Lindor Mellonamin, please would you read it? I can not have read it right. It..ithas our names on it.
