Well, most of us play D&D type elves, at least the races... There are so many ways we quirk other aspects of it though, ushualy just the races name and a few of the most typical charastics, every thing else tends to change with the player. *grabs a book* Stop me if you all ready know this... There are bits and pices of this all over the sight but not really much and not all in one place. This is just a lose sum up type thing... kinda give you an idea if you don't happen to have the elven handbook laying around.
Dark Elves, a.k.a. Drows. Very black skin white hair, live underground. Typicaly red eyes, though that depends on what source books your using. :P Mostly evil types, and it's really over done to have a 'nice' Drow or a Drow comfortable on the surface, they hate surface elves and sun light among other things. This has roots in Toklien I think.. some thing about Illustre, and her mothers revolt and Corllon kicking them to the under world. I'm spelling it, wrong, I know...
Grey Elves, Silver hair, amber eyes, or golden hair and violet eyes. This is your typicl snooty better-than-all-of-you elf. Kinda a noble knight like figures and they really tend to see them selves as above the rest of the world...
High Elves, friendly cheery happy sorts. They are a lil' stand off ish, but then again most elves are. The most common type of elf your see wandering about really. Blonde hair, blue eyes, or black hair green eyes, though variations of brown and sandy blond hair are not unherad of. Fair skinerd, think new cream.
Slyvan Elves, wild elves, more muscular than the other elven races. Yellow, to coppery hair, mostly brown eyes though occasionaly green, blue eyes are pretty rare with this breed. More of a yellowish skind tone too. A bit more volital, and very protective of their homes. They prefer simpler things like the sounds of the wind in the trees to all the poofy stuff other elves like.
Aquatic Elves, rarer, since they do live in water. Skin is silvery green or bluish in tone, their hair tends to be blue green shades as well. They can live on the surface, but they really prefer water.
There are also Snow Elves, perfect white skin, and hair, and they live in the norther places. Poison Elves... green and I think they were made by some curse at one point, their blood is deadly poison.
The afor mentioned elves come from Troil. There is another world called Krynn, and they have Qualinesti, Silvanesti, and Kagonesti elves. The Silvanesti are the perfectionests in the bunch, Qualinestis mixed with humans at one point so they have more variation in their looks, Kagonesti are the wild elves here... I don't have much on these three, and there arn't many of them running around on Ultima Online, but it still bears mentioning.
Elves are not native to Britannia, however I've added it up, and it's possible for a young elves to have been born and grown up in Britannia. Though if your playing a five hundread year old Sylven elf.. you proly wern't born in the UO world.
Just a loose bit on age... some say elves are adult at 120 or so... others it's 200 years old. Similary, some say they live 500 years, others a thousand, and some just keep it at immortal. Typicaly half elves are doing good to reach 300, though in some cases, if your a half elf, you are eather all human, and little to no elven features, or you can be all elf and live as long as any other... I'm not saying these are age rules, just other ways I've seen it played that have been accepted by the guild... more or less.
I hope I kinda answered your question, and if a particular SOMEONE wants to grief my spelling... I'll just repeat, I know I can't spell and I think it's petty to keep at a body like you do. *sticks toung out*
