I began to see a bright light...it grew dimmer and dimmer until I could distinguish a flame of orange and yellow...then the logs upon which the fire was built...then the tents and the Drow standing around the fireal of them staring at me. I realized I was lying on my belly so I tried to get up, thus realizing I was tied, and quite well I might addthe bonds did not allow a single move, save for a slight head nod. I tried a greetings but my words chocked upon the gag between my teeth. All that came from my mouth was a slight moan that got the attention of the Drow. One of the females, with an exceptionally well-built and muscular body, came next to me and lowered her mouth right next to my year: I shall remove the gag to allow you to answer some questions, but know that if you scream or try casting a spell, I shall rip your heart out! and thus showed me a curved black-bladed dagger that glowed slightly in the blaze of the fire. With a swift move, she cut off the piece of cloth between my teeth and started talking with a solemn, although deeply mocking voice: Who are you, pale skin, and what are you doing here, so close to the Dark Mouth? Dark Mouth? What did she mean by that? None the less, I tried an answer: My name isArkaanis and Oh please! a male Drow interrupted. He was standing a bit further from the fire, leaning against a tree and partly concealed by the shadows. Whats with all the pointless questions, Velrudavha? You are going to torture and kill him regardless of his answers! the female turned a dark glare toward him and hissed: Thats MISTRESS Velrudavha to you, worm male! As for the questions, the answers will dictate the extent of his torture. Now leave my sight and get back to your barking, dog! the male disappeared from where he was standing, but not before spewing a series of words in Drow that did not seem pleasant and which seemed to greatly infuriate Velrudavha. Enough questions! Well take you to our outpost and drain all the blood out of you! Drop by drop! One of the other females put the gag back in my mouth and two of the males picked me up and started carrying me out of the tree-patch. After a short walk, I realized what was so special about this area: In front of me, a huge cave with stalagmites and stalactites all around its brim gaped into an endless darkness. This was the Dark Mouth that Velrudavha mentioned, the very entrance to the Underdark that those orcs came here to investigate. We started descending into the deep chasm lower and lowerdarker and darkersuddenly, there was some commotion behind me. Steel flashed, a muffled scream, blades clashing then a week thud. All this was followed by an enraged cry that seemed to echo across the walls of the cavern. When finally we arrived to the lower level, (which was lit by the light of hundreds of small glass spheres filled with some luminescent organisms) Velrudavha came by my side. She was clearly furious, and a large cut could be seen under her right arm. She muttered some words in Drow and then knocked me in the back of the head with the hilt of her dagger. I lost consciousness. When I awoke

May you live as long as the winds and as peacefull as the forests,
Arkaanis
