the golden princess sat by the brook, singing and listening to her dark friend singing along."why don't you have a name?" Goldyn asked abruptly.
a look of pain flashed breifly across her friend's face.
"because my mother died before i could be named. i haven't found mine yet. they call me the Outcast, and Wulfdanlye, the Lone Wolf."
"you -do- have a name, though. you just have to find it."
"whatever. i have to go. i'll come see you later."
angrily, the half-drow girl got up and stormed off into the woods. her friend looked after her and felt sorrow for bringing up the dark one's sole weakness.
she sat for a while longer, thinking, then realized it was dark and got up and started walking back to her home. she smelt smoke, and then she heard the screams of her people. gasping in fear, she raced towards her city. reaching the outskirts, she stoppped dead. the beautiful city was burning, with wizards fire, and her people being slaughtered by what seemed to be shadows of themselves. she then realized what they were: drow. turning she ran for the woods and her friend, crying out the whole way. a drow priestess cast *webs* at her and caught her.
she then asked in rough Sylvan: "Who you call?"
"Wulfdanlye. the Dark Lone Wolf. and you'd better be careful with me, because i'm the princess of this city." then seeing the mutilated body of her mother and father, tears began to flow down her face and she whispered "never mind, make that queen."
"Wulfdanlye??? Kri'stor!!! i think we found your daughter!" the priestess called in dorw to a strong, handsome male drow. he walked over and looked at Goldyn.
"She's no daughter of mine," he relpied. "look at her. she's too feeling, too weak."
"she speaks of a half-drow, Kri'stor. called her Wulfdanlye. is that not what you were called once?"
his curiosity piqued, Kri'stor turned to the princess and slapped her to get her attention. she looked at him, eyes wide; she'd never been struck before.
"we take u now," he told her. "you come to-" he paused, searching for the word, then gave up and continued. "with us. we leave message for you friend. maybe she get you. you be mine now."
goldyn started to protest, but he slammed the hilt of his falchion on the back of her head, knocking her out. he then nodded to the priestess and said "let's go. we've taken all of value and we'll see if my whelp has any backbone, if she's anything like me."
they left, but never noticed the dark figure of a druid perched in the limbs of an ancient oak. he had heard and understood all.
"she's the one, Mielikki. this Lone Wolf. i will find her and bring her to you." with that, he disappeared into the woods.
the carnage was left, to be revealed brutally to the dark one when she came to see Goldyn the next day.
