I queerly returned to my position. Dismayed and disgruntled I stood, looking at the Drow General. I noticed that most of the Elves among me were drows or Aquatic Elves. It seems that the Council of the Lands had supplied me with a new army. I was a Grey Elf and did not always see...well...eye to eye with these other agressive Elves.I noticed stirring in the mountain caverns above. I did not tell this to my commanding officers. No need to start a brawl if the Dwarves did not want one.
A pebble fell from overhead and onto an archer's shoulder pad. The archer looked up ina swift motion and shot at the inanimate object.
Amrod, my Colonel and only other decent Elf of this bunch, ordered the shooting to cease. Amrod is Half Grey Elf and half drow. I guess you could say he has the best of both worlds.
Suddenly shadows began to lurk about the odd mountains. A mountain arrow whipped through the mountain winds and wizzed past my forhead, hitting my luitenent Colonel Darwen in the gut. It was no big loss as we watched him die, he did nothing and no one liked him much anyway. I do care about all Elvish life with a passion, but the Elves this man has slain...it would even make a drow sick.
Suddenly, our regiment sprang to life. Someone tried to helf the Luitenent Colonel up but he died in seconds. Every Elf with a weapon took shelter and began shotting into the shadows...all except me. I decided that blind shooting is just no fun. I had snuck around the back of the shadows and discovered that these were no Dwarves that had lain fire upon us...these were no good, trouble-making goblins.
But my discovery was but short-lived...because the goblins had found me too...
