Are you gainfully employed as a linguist? If yes is it with respect to English? Yes, your English is as good as many of the careless non members. (I do mean careless ones, not all) I can honestly say the written word has always been my worst ability. I am not proud of that so I try to do my best. That really is all we ask. Most people know that simple punctuation and grammar is needed to make the script easier to read. Some people have disabilities that make it very difficult to use grammar. Although Grammar boy might pick on my spelling, grammar and the likes he knows I try.
I have never found the members here hostile to me. I was not always a member. Sometimes you need to take a step back, reread what has been written by others and ask yourself...
"If someone came into my home and talked to me like that, how would I respond?"

Remember we only get words. Unless someone has used an emote or vocal discriptive we can interpret sentences with different intonations. Our perception, therefore, can depend on our mood or feelings. If the poster has mispelled or left out words the mood of the post can change entirely!
