Gwynedd woke with a start in her room at the Twin Oaks Tavern. Some lady named "Butch" was engaged in serious melee combat with a guard. The sword clanking was interfering with Gwynedd's already impaired rational thought, so she stumbled down the stairs and found Tir, Delphianne, and Pollen--all anxious to leave. And there was Rakoth and Keye! Two more Faeries! Now they were six.Their destination was Lakeside. Delphianne had business with the Meer in an attempt to "right a wrong" that had been visited upon her Dryad tree by the Meer--and therefore upon herself. The Meer were characteristically uncommunicative and Delphianne, now in a foul mood, killed one for spite on the way out of town.
Then they encountered Rat People, lots of Rat People, living in an abandoned town. From her days in the Ice Caves, Gwynedd had a special dislike of these creatures and she was joined by Keye and Rakoth in an attack of extermination. Tir, of course, wandered over to the mountains and found a cave. The rest shortly joined her.
At first, the Earth Elementals seemed no match for the Faeries. Everyone began to relax and to enjoy a bit of training. Then Tir explored further. Soon all were faced with a Dragon--well, not really a Dragon, more like a Dragon with no meat, all bones. Rapidly their situation plummeted into pure chaos what with Liches and other Undead materializing. Even the steeds proved ineffective against the boney Dragon. A lot of Faeries died that day. Or perhaps, better put, a lot of Faeries died a lot. Tir lost her belongings and her steed. Others lost their resolve. Finally escaping that cave, they headed for the Pixie Town to heal amongst thier own.
Delphianne chose to stay in bed and recuperate, but the other five thought that pressing on to Mistas would be a good idea. Wrong again. While the trip was uneventful, a huge Juka thing blocked a bridge that would lead to, as Tir described it, a "safe place." Arrows downed Keye. Pollen scampered above the bridge, as did Tir. Rakoth and Gwynedd were frozen with indecision. Then a figure riding a Swamp Dragon and a Golem attacked. Finally, the Juka was lured away by about twenty Blade Spirits and the Faeries sprinted across the bridge and entered a minus-Five Star Inn. No one spoke much as they went to their pallets.
