Glor blinked several times upon coming out of his reverie and turned his head to look at the empty bed next to him. It had simply been a dream after all. His memories had fooled him into believing it was a year ago, all was well and he lay curled in her arms."A time of reflection..."he mutterd to himself as his bare feet hit the cold stone floor of his little tower. He shook his head and wiped the last of the sleep from his eyes. He rose from bed and pulled on his leggings.
Something had gone terribly awry last evening. The evening had started with him simply not feeling well. As the tavern filled with patrons all eager to listen to the songs and stories of the contest that night the feeling intesified. Now it felt as if a knife were plunged into his side and every breath he drew brought a stabbing pain. He had slipped out of the contest early and returned to his tower, holding his side with a grimace. He was unsure if he would be able to rest at all that night but eventually reverie had taken him.
Now this morning the pain was gone to be replaced with a feeling of emptiness. He looked over at the table next to his bed at the circle of Mithril that lay there. He sighed softly and reminded himself that it was his own fault he woke that morning on there porch...locked out and with next to nothing to his name. He didnt remember the feeling of emptiness being over him then as much as it filled him now.
What had happened? Something was different today.
He stepped up the ladder onto the roof of his tower. The smell of fresh poppies greeted him. He carefully inspected each plant for leaves that were ready to be harvested. The leaves would afford him some protection in the coming battles with the drow.
Then the thought struck him full.
"Tha drow..." he muttered. While he had been incapacitated last night the drow had certainly attacked again. "They still got tha seed."
