Here is a bit more information to use as background material. Remember, there is no real seed telling any of this, so you have to be creative and use your imagination when an opportunity arises.

First, a few lists of do's and do not's.

Things the Seed can NOT do.

  • The seed can not SPEAK to you.
  • The seed should not compel you to do anything not of the Elven Way.
  • The seed is not fully awake yet, so any motivations are purely instinctual. Mainly protective... think a spiritual guard dog.
  • The seed can not move on its own.
  • The seed can not cast magic directly.
  • The seed has NO defensive capabilities, and cannot interact with the physical world (yet).
  • The seed's location can not be sensed directly (because of the magical wardings on the chest it currently resides in).
  • The seed can not be mind controled... it is a divine vessel, and thus its mind (as elementary as it is at the moment) is divinely portected.
  • The presence of the seed should not be "felt" by humans. Mages might feel a slight strangeness when casting inside the realm, but at this stage it's reach is too limited to be anything to those not in direct communion with Eru's bloodline. In other words, no Elf-blood (half or better), no emotive bond to the seed.

    Things the Seed CAN do.

  • The seed can sense danger to its "realm", loosely defined as the core buildings around the Temple and Tavern at the moment. As the seed grows to a full sapling and tree, so to will its "radius of effect".
  • The seed can lead those attuned to it (mainly, Elves) to sources of danger. This is more of a gut feeling then whispers in the ear. Great explanation for the minimum tracking skill (20.1).
  • The seed can aid in the casting of Magic, when used in the defense or betterment of its realm. OOCly, you can use scrolls to simulate this.
  • The seed lays a "spiritual scent" on its realm that is clearly identifiable to those with a nose for such things. Undead, Drow, and other magical beings will instinctively know that they are inside an Elven realm when in the Seed's radius (which will grow with time).
  • The seed, as a conduit to Eru, can inspire great creativity in the realm of the Arts. Bards should attempt to RP such inspiration while inside the seed's "realm".
  • The seed, once it is brought out into the open (and out of its warded box), can be used as mental catalyst. As a divinely empowered artifact, those seeking a deeper level of mental communion with the Seldarine (Elven gods) can find it by meditating within its immediate vicinty. This doesn't mean they will have a vision or visitation, but it is more likely.

Remember that those Elves who actually lived in Toril (really old members) will have the strongest bond to the seedling, at least to start. They are already familiar to the seed, on some level. Don't worry, though... technically the seed has been spending the last 50+ years getting familiar with ALL of us.

As the seed is exposed to the community, and begins to develop into its full potential, we'll add further effects and possibilities. If you have suggestions for additional powers or ideas (remember, they should have easily RPed in game effects/consequences), please send them to me privately and we'll discuss them.

Keep one thing in mind, folks. This is a general concept for greater color and background development in Tel'Ruid, but please use it RESPONSIBLY. It only takes one person abusing the free reign of this RP to start bringing it down for all of us. The seed, especially at its current state and location, is just now awakening and beginning to grow. Nothing you RP concerning it should be grandiose... moderation and subtlety is the key.

That said, have fun. This should be cool..
