A work dedicated

Myra looked up from her worn notebook. Even after so much time had passed, she could not deny that some still held a pull on her heart and spirit. One in particular, she could sense, was departing this world for perhaps the final time. Her tired eyes looked down at the works strewn across her desk before her.

Once before someone had suggested that her works tended to be self-fulfilled prophecies. And maybe they were right.

These were his now. Never would she sing them without thinking of him as she did so. Her quill deftly scratched his name across the paper. Glorfindle En'Seer

"I will miss you." Myra whispered, and then rose her voice in song, sitting at her desk atop her home, all alone, in tribute to one of her dearest friends and companions.

Moonlight shines on your skin
Glistening with a mist of sweat
The music of the night, yet to begin
The chirping of crickets, their string quartet

My fingers run through your hair
And a sigh escapes your lips
The cool night's breeze moves the air
As across your chest dance my fingertips

The squeal of bats, moths' fluttering wings
A raccoon's scurry for a bit of food
Around us with the glory of life, nature sings
Stars twinkle merrily, trees shift with the mood

The sunlight filters through your lashes
Their shadows lay across your cheek
Butterflies flutter by - all their color flashes
At the thought of your lips on mine, I grow weak

The warming early morning light
Bathes you in a golden glow
What a breath-takingly beautiful sight
As the light creeps o'er your body, my eyes follow

Crystalline dew drops sparkle in your mane
And longing to see your eyes, to hear your voice
in the softest of whispers, I call your name
Thinking that at my call, you have no choice

But the mists of the dream world fade
And your visage dims from my longing view
I know where you body, funeral bedecked, is laid
And I know the next world is where I will again see you

But that does not cloud my day
Nor bring tears to blur my eyes
For I know you'd want me to be happily along my way
And enjoy the springtime, and clear blue skies

And so it is our love lives on
Though I am here and you are gone.

As her voice quieted again, she returned to staring at the works spread on her desk in silent solitude.

[Dedicated to Glorfindle and his player, in tribute to all the wonder he's brought to me in this world of UO, as well as to many others. - Jenn
