Hello, you dont know me but i have heard of you. My character's name is Kuruni Khilasa Kaimelar and I would like to join Tel' Mithrim with her. I realize i havent given you much reason to even consider it yet, but hopefully when i give you her history, maybe you will think on it a bit. I also have a couple of pictures of her, one is a profile style picture, showing her form and the other is a face portrait. Contact me as Khilasa_Kaimelar on yahoo when i am online, which is a bit erratic right now. Also, i am learning elvish right now, from your tomes on the language, i only know a bit, but i am still studying.. :) Now for the history of Kuruni Khilasa Kaimelar~~~~~~~~~~~ She woke up alone that morning in a side street somewhere, she really didnt know. Where was her mommy? She felt so cold, and she looked through the eyes of a two year old elven child at the world around her and down at herself, wrapped in a very worn sheepskin blanket, wearing under it, the thin and coarse homespun green shirt and a pair of cotton knickers that she used to wear when she was playing in the trees. She put her tiny hand on the sidewalk and scooted her knees under her to get up. As the toddler rose to her feet, she started to take in the environment she was in, dumped near a market, she heard the sounds of Elvish and Common being spoken, though she didnt know Elvish well, having only heard it when her mommy yelled at her daddy. She walked into the wide street filled with poor elven wives with no money, trying to barter with merchants for food. She knew that she was always hungry, maybe mommy had gone to get some food and left her there because she was asleep and would be back later. She wobbled through the crowd, most taking no notice of her, assuming her mother was somewhere in the mob. She saw an apple fall and toddled to it eagerly, waiting only a moment to see if anyone else had grabbed it first. she picked up the apple and dragged her blanket out of the crowd, falling down often because of the hungry crowd stepping on the blanket to get to the food. When she finally got out of the crowd she sat to eat her apple, back where she awoke, so she thought. She waited where she was as time got on, she looked around, so sure her mother would come back for her. She looked around to see if it was the market they always came to, but saw no familiar places. She began to feel lost and started to cry when she heard a womanly voice near her speaking elvish to her seemingly. The voice hushed her lonely cries and crooned three words: Kuruni Khilasa Kaimelar. She thought maybe that was her name, as her mommy never called her anything but child and when her mommy was mad, brat. She looked around to see if she could see the person from whom the voice came but the side street was empty and she called out, but nobody was there. The voice whispered to her that she would be okay and that her mommy wasn't coming back. Khilasa cried again, harder this time, the voice saying her fears were the truth. The voice rocked her to sleep there in the side street, her cries hushed as she laid her head down on the firmly packed dirt. Khilasa stayed where she was for as long as she could, moving to another street now and then, taking food from what was thrown aside or dropped on the ground. Lots of times she stayed out of people's sight, not wanting to attract attention, she knew that it was scary where she was. One day, a few years later, when she was 5, though she knew not her age, a boy, a few years older, found her under a deserted merchant's table, eating some rotten fruit that was left. The boy peered at her, she was a mess, skinny and a sickly color of pale brownish white on her skin, partially mud, partially malnutrition. The boy tilted his head and asked her name, giving his, Nilo. Khilasa looked at him suspicious of his intentions, but after a bit, she told him her name was Kuruni Khilasa Kaimelar and looked at him happily, " The voice gave me my name." Nilo looked at her in quiet wonder, "You mean the street angels?",he said offhandedly, but he was hiding his wonder, the street angel was said to only come to those who didnt belong on the streets. The street angels were said to protect the misplaced urchins, their power leaving their ward only when their ward leaves the streets. Nilo looked at Khilasa and suggested that she come with him for a little while, and get fresh food and some clothes, as her smaller clothes were grown out of and fell off her when she burst the threads apart when waking one morning. She had the sheepskin blanket still, she used it as a dress and pinned it together with what spare pins she could find on the street, fallen from ladies' hair. She stood and made a decision, looking up at Nilo. She reached her hand out to Nilo and looked at him, speaking the common she learned from her mommy, "Will I get to come back?," knowing intuitively that which ever she did, went with Nilo, urchin boy, or stayed and lived off of market toss, it would change something, and she asked him because she wanted to know if he would lie like most everyone or if he would be truthful with her. She already knew that if she left, she would never come back, she had stayed in the same area living on trash for a long time. It was a very grown up decision for a little girl of 5 but most adults underrate children's ability to think anyhow.
Nilo looked at her and looking in her eyes, he was taken aback, so much truth in Khilasa's eyes, staring back at him, truth so harsh it hurt to look at, though the boy had never seen a mirror. He wanted to tell her the truth, that she wouldn't come back, but the truth in her eyes was so painful, he didnt think he could bear to speak of anymore truths. He stammered a lie,"Sh-sure you'll come back," he laughed a little nervously, "Why wouldn't you if you want?"
Khilasa stared at him, scared, knowing he was lying, though his eyes told the truth. He reached out his hand to her and Khilasa looked at it sadly, knowing he wanted to help. There she took his hand and he pulled her to her feet, and her life was never the same. Nilo took her to a place where a nice lady found her some boy's clothes, a jerkin of leather, and some thick tights, a thick tunic; feeding them and then sending them off, telling Khilasa to come back when she needed new clothes. Nilo took her to the courtyard where all the urchins usually slept and where different men of profession would try and teach some urchins skills to help them off the streets. She met a swordsman named Karythar who gave her lessons when he had the spare time. She quickly picked up the skill of swordsmanship and was very apt with a small rapier. She would be up all day, practicing the moves Karythar taught her, either with Karythar himself or on posts of wood, her evenings she talked with Nilo as he taught her Elvish, though she took to it poorly, and ate whatever she could find, and when she laid her head down to rest, dreams of faraway places filled her head. Eventually Karythar could teach her nothing new, but only keep her sharp, so he turned to teaching her other things, he knew archery well enough to be more than mediocre at it and taught her the art of the bow and arrow, though the sword stayed her strong point. Karythar was a rich man of 850 when he taught Khilasa to wield a sword at her young age of five, and he grew older as she finally matched his skill and he was 860 when he got out an old bow for Khilasa. He taught her all he knew. They had become like father and daughter as she lived an urchin life and he taught her ways that she might survive. Though she didnt know it, Karythar spread her name through the town to the hightower guard and they watched her skills grow from age eleven to age nineteen, and believing that she would be a good warrior for Tel' Mithrim, in a faraway place of Britannia. One day, some time after her nineteenth birthday, (though she knew it not) Karythar came to Khalisa and took her hands in his larger ones. He kneeled down before her, and she looked at him sensing something sad was going to happen to her, but she didnt know what. Karythar looked her in the eyes, "Khalisa, you know I am old, I have taught you everything I know, child. You are older now too. Your time with the urchins is over, dear. There is a journey you might make, that I will tell you later. Now, I have something for you." Karythar stood and went to his bench in the courtyard, where all his swords and things were. He pulls out a silk wrapped sword and sheath. Khilasa watches, not knowing what is happening. Karythar comes back over to her with the silk wrapped sword in his arms, and gets to a kneel and tugs on her sleeve, pulling her to a kneel as well, whispering," I wanted to give this to you, little Kaimelar. You will need it more than I will now." Khilasa, kneeling before Karythar, said,"Why shall I need it? What is this journey you spoke of? Where are you going that I cannot?" Khilasa stared into his eyes, her own blue ones looking very forlorn. Karythar smiled back at her, for he knew her fears, but could not deviate from what her destiny had in store for her and he said,"Khilasa, though you will always be in my heart, your time here with the street angels is over. Your destiny is not here in Valdassar, but hopefully in Britannia. You see, the Hightower Guard has been watching you , my dear Khilasa. And they think you are perfect for Tel' Mithrim, so they will pay your way to Britannia and supply you with enough to get there on, a horse and all, and there you will go and ask to be initiated into the Grey Company." Khilasa'a eyes widened, full of mixed emotions, here is all the opportunity for bettering herself, yet what if they dont take her in and she has to come back? And no Karythar? She looks up at him her eyes full of fear, "Where will I go if they dont want me?" Karythar looked at her and smiled sadly, "My little Kaimelar. Dont you know? That is the risk we take with destiny and fate. But what an adventure. Never you mind, Khilasa, the street angels wouldnt be with you if you were to return to your present situation." His olde gray eyes twinkled and she sighed with relief. She looked at him and a tear swelled in her eyes, "I shall miss you forever, you know." Karythar hugged her and said, "Such is the price one pays for greater destiny. I was once where you are now. Oh..but I shall miss you too." And so the Hightower Guard of Valdassar sent her off, on a horse with certain gear and a entire saddle bag full of lembas alone. Off she went, unheard of in the Grey Company, sent off to meet her fortune and make her fame.~~
That is Khilasa Kaimelar's history, God's will that you may read it all and consider me.
